KYOCERA Launches MD90 Fine Pitch Cutters for Aluminum

KYOCERA is proud to announce the release of the MD90 Aluminum Milling Series, a premium high-efficiency solution designed for exceptional aluminum machining performance. Featuring a super fine pitch cutter, advanced PCD insert technology, and a lightweight body compatible with BT30, the MD90 delivers outstanding machining quality, reduced cycle times, and long tool life.

Engineered to achieve a surface finish of 0.8 μmRa or less, the MD90 offers stable, chatter-free machining and minimal burr formation, even at extremely high cutting speeds. The cutter’s ultra-fine pitch design maximizes machining efficiency, while its precision-ground PCD inserts ensure superior surface quality, dimensional accuracy, and extended edge performance.

The MD90’s lightweight aluminum body design provides high rigidity while reducing spindle load, with the largest 125mm diameter cutter weighing less than 1.5 kg. Double coolant holes supply efficient cooling at the cutting edge and workpiece, suppressing chip adhesion and protecting insert edges. The streamlined chip pocket design further improves chip evacuation and protects the cutter body for consistent performance.

An extensive selection of cutter diameters, flute counts, and custom design options supports a wide range of aluminum machining applications. The MD90 is also available with multiple PCD insert styles, including sharp-edged designs for superior finishes and corner radius types for heavy-load machining.

Benefits:

  • Super fine pitch design enables high-speed, high-efficiency aluminum machining
  • Capable of 0.8 μmRa or better surface finishes with minimal burr formation
  • Lightweight design compatible with BT30 for improved versatility
  • With 16-24 flutes in fine pitch design, the MD90 achieves 30-40% higher feed rates compared to competitor cutters, without sacrificing finish

Features:

  • PCD inserts for exceptional surface finish and long tool life
  • Ultra-fine pitch cutter body for high-efficiency machining
  • Double coolant holes and streamlined chip pockets for stability and chip control
  • Multiple insert geometries for various machining needs
